Summary

ReferentCrab is a local-first notes application. Your note content is stored on your device. We do not provide user accounts or operate cloud storage for your notes.

Information stored on your device

The app may store on your device:

1. Note text and formatting metadata (in an app documents file)
2. App preferences (language, dictation settings, archive sort order, trial/Pro status)
3. Purchase entitlement flags after a successful Google Play transaction

This data remains on your device unless you uninstall the app or clear app data.

Information we do not collect on our servers

We do not operate backend servers that receive or store your note content. We do not require registration.

Permissions and third-party services

Microphone

Used only when you start voice dictation. Audio is processed for speech-to-text through your device’s speech recognition services (which may include Google Speech Services on Android). Processing may occur on-device or via your device/OS provider’s online services, according to your device settings — not through RedFishBay servers.

Internet

Used for:

1. Speech recognition on devices that require network access for recognition
2. Google Play in-app billing (if you purchase Pro)
3. Opening links you choose (export/post to other apps)

Google Play Billing

If you buy Pro, payment is handled by Google Play. We receive purchase confirmation through Google’s billing APIs to unlock features on your device. We do not receive your payment card details.

Analytics and advertising

ReferentCrab does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the current release.

Children’s privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention and deletion

Uninstalling the app or clearing app storage removes local note data and preferences from your device. Purchase records may remain with Google according to Google’s policies; use “Restore purchases” in the app if you reinstall.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
